The Geopolitical Zones in Nigeria

Nigeria is made up of six Geopolitical Zones. These geopolitical zones were created during the regime of General Sani Abacha. He was the Nigerian Head of State from 17th November to 8th June 1998.

North Central ( also known as Middle Belt):

  • Niger
  • Plateau
  • Federal Capital Territory

North East:

  • Adamawa
  • Bauchi
  • Borno
  • Gombe
  • Taraba
  • Yobe

North West:

  • Jigawa
  • Kaduna
  • Kano
  • Kastina
  • Kebbi
  • Sokoto
  • Zamfara

South East:

  • Abia
  • Anambra
  • Ebonyi
  • Enugu
  • Imo

South South:

  • Akwa Ibom
  • Bayelsa
  • Cross River
  • Rivers
  • Delta
  • Edo

South West:

  • Ekiti
  • Lagos
  • Ogun
  • Ondo
  • Osun
  • Oyo
